Threads engine
The Threads engine is an acoustic sequencer built around three independent sound layers, each with its own rhythmic pattern and playback behavior.. It is specialised for creating dynamic, performable, rhythmic textures from short acoustic sounds.
Each layer contains up to eight steps, with per-step velocity editable by clicking and dragging on the circles. The playback head visualizes the active step in real time. Users can modify a deep set of parameters such as the step count, pattern shift, playback rate and direction, and note order (including classic arpeggiator modes and chord-based playback). Randomization, gate length, and humanization controls provide additional variation and groove.
At the top of the interface, the Layer Blend macro lets you gradually stack the three sequence layers, enabling smooth transitions from sparse to more complex rhythmic textures. Additionally, Delay and Reverb macros control the global effects sends.
By clicking the “SEQ On” switch, you can deactivate the sequencer and play the instrument freely.
In the Settings panel, the Layers tab allows the configuration of the sequence and layer stacking, as well as per-layer parameters like tuning, envelope, and panning variation:
The FX tab lets you dial in a suite of effects processors; Delay, Reverb, EQ, Distortion, and Compressor, each with a specific set of controls to fine tune the sound you’re looking for:
