Tape Collages

Experimental tape recordings

Expansive soundscapes built from multi-meter tape loops stretched through the room, recording sound-on-sound to create dense, layered collages that sometimes seem to have opinions of their own. Textures fold and shift as the tapes interact, voice-like depths hum beneath, and occasional plucks shimmer like sparks that refused to follow the plan.

About the instruments

Residue captures echoes and memory, soft and contemplative, while Patina drifts through luminous layers, warm with tape saturation and the occasional happy accident that somehow works better than intended.

Dissolution flows and melts, shaped by personal devices—modified whale-detection hydrophones lending faintly underwater, otherworldly textures that might make you check for a lurking submersible. Each volume is a distinct journey through immersive, tactile sonic landscapes, rich with subtle unpredictability and small conspiracies of sound.

Orbits engine blends four processed tape layers across an X/Y pad, letting you mix, isolate, or combine sources dynamically, as if the tapes themselves were quietly negotiating their own hierarchy. Shapes, Progress, Radius, and Rotation guide motion, while gestures or automation let textures evolve organically, folding, colliding, and drifting without ever asking permission.

For ambient journeys, experimental scoring, or quiet listening—where loops and layers reveal themselves gradually, unspooling strange textures and half-heard echoes along the way.
